In 1882, in New York City, Peter McGuire and Matthew Maguire put together the first Labor Day parade with 10,000 workers protesting the unfair working conditions. This holiday now celebrates the American labor movement and everything that workers contribute toward the prosperity, well-being, and strength of the United States of America. This year, millions of Americans will celebrate Labor Day on September 5th, which is now synonymous with the last hoorah of summer.
